Prom season is finally here! I’m in college now, so it’s been a while since I went to my Prom, but if there’s one thing to know, it’s that Prom is a night you’ll never forget! Even if you never went to any of the other school dances (like me), Prom is that one last chance to spend an awesome night with your entire class before you all split ways and go off to college. For many (and as it was for me), I’d been going to school with these people for almost my whole life.
So here are a few tips to help you get ready for your big night!
# 1: Get your dress early
This tip may be a little bit late, but getting your dress earlier rather than later is always best. You’ll have a much better selection. And if you can, for dress shopping, the farther the better! There were 2 other girls that went to my prom wearing the same dress as me. And if that happens to you.. Don’t freak. It’s just a dress! Have fun! Don’t let a dress ruin your night.
# 2: Nails, nails, nails!
I highly recommend getting your nails done right before prom. Fake nails or just get a regular manicure if fake nails aren’t your thing. Having your nails done will just add that little bit of glamour. I always feel glamorous when I have my nails done, and if I could go back I would have gotten them done right before.
# 3: Skip the heels
This is another thing that I wish I had thought through. Chances are your dress is going to cover your heels anyways, and if you wear them, you’ll just end up with sore feet from dancing all night! In fact, you might just have to take them off like I did!
If your dress is too long to not wear heels, then maybe you can take it to an alteration shop. It’s not worth killing your feet over haha.
# 4: Hairspray!
Basically, with 600 or people in one space, it gets hots. And humid. If you opt to do your hair yourself (which is what I did), then make sure you USE HAIRSPRAY! At least if you want any prayer of your hair to stay in place.
And if you have the money, I’d recommend going and getting your hair done. Seeing lots of girls with elaborate hair dos, I wish I had.
# 5: Don’t overdo the makeup
You’ll want to wear eyeshadow/makeup that compliments your dress, but if you’ve got a bright colored dress, you’re probably better off with going neutral. Blue and purple eyeshadows just don’t look good, even if it goes with your dress. Stay natural, but don’t be afraid to be a little dramatic if that’s your thing!
Have fun!!!
And most importantly, have fun! This is a night you only get to live once, so remember that! Don’t let anything or anyone ruin it if for you. Hope this post helped, and have a great prom!
