Hey y’all! Hope you’re having a good week. It’s been a hectic one for me, and you know what’s made things just a little easier for me? Being able to carry around just one tiny little bag with almost all of my makeup touch up needs!
That’s right. I can fit my BB cream, concealer, two cream blushes, two lipsticks, eyeliner, and two mascaras in one pencil bag! You probably didn’t think that was possible. Well think again 🙂
It’s possible with the Stowaway Kit.
The idea behind Stowaway Cosmetics is that the makeup we buy today is too big. It’s made like we have a year to finish it, but makeup expires. What happens when we can’t finish those products before they expire? Well, we don’t want to waste it, so we just keep using it. And that’s bad for our skin. So!
Stowaway Cosmetics came up with a solution. Right-sized makeup. And I tell you what. When you first see this stuff, it’s almost like you’ve been robbed. But this kit has actually lasted me as long as it should. And I was really surprised at how much I love some of these products!
Note about my particular Stowaway Kit: I bought it from them when they were having a special, so I got 3 free items! An extra cheek & lip rouge, creme lipstick, and mascara! This entire kit was $75! (Note: I purchased this kit with my own money).
Unfortunately, you can only buy Stowaway products online, so definitely check out as many reviews as you can to get ideas of color and tone before you purchase. I wish I had.
Radiant Complexion BB Cream
Unfortunately for me, I ordered the color medium. I thought the color would be good for me, but turns out it’s just too dark for me in the Winter. So I don’t have to much to say about this (haven’t tried it yet), other than I love the packaging. Love the size. It’s very similar in shape to one of those ULTA Fabulous Face Primers.
Creaseless Concealer
I love love love this concealer! It’s super tiny, but don’t let the size fool you. A little goes a long way, and it does exactly what it says it will do. You won’t see any creases with this concealer. At least I’ve yet to see any. And an added bonus? It’s great at smoothing over your pores! Obviously, this isn’t a primer, so you’re not gonna want to put it all over your face, but I’ll take whatever help I can get in the pore department.
Cheek & Lip Rouge
I never did use this for my lips, but maybe I should have. This is basically just a cream blush, and man. I’ll tell you what. This stuff works. I’d never used a cream blush before, and now I don’t know if I’ll ever want to use my powder ones ever again.
This stuff stays on your face ALL day long. I’m used to my blush looking amazing right after I apply it, then being practically gone at the end of the day. But this stuff is super long lasting. I apply it with my fingers just after my liquid foundation before I apply my bronzer and use setting powder. Give it a try!
Creme Lipstick
This stuff is silky smooth, and that’s pretty much all you need to know. I should probably test this one out a little more and see how long it lasts, but for me, lipstick never lasts too long. I usually end up having to blot it off before I dive into a greasy hamburger! (Whataburger, I love you).
I’m definitely loving these shades. And you get your choice of shades for each of the products in this kit. Makes it even more customizable 🙂
Effortless Eyeliner
I’m usually not a huge fan of the twist up eyeliners, but this one takes the cake. It’s every bit as good as my favorite – Urban Decay Perversion. It might not be quite as black, but it stays in my waterline every bit as good or better!
One thing I wasn’t crazy about with this eyeliner is the size. It’s not that there’s not enough product. The diameter of the eyeliner tip itself.. it’s so small and it was a little irritating to my eye at first, which is used to pressure being applied more evenly with a larger tip. My left eye almost teared up a little bit when I applied this the first time, and that NEVER happens to me. But once you get used to it, it’s not a big deal.
Defined Lash Mascara
This happens to be my least favorite of the two mascaras I got in this kit, BUT this is a great mascara. The only reason it’s second is because of how amazingly in love I am with the Extreme Lash (I’ll get to that one next!). This is a really good mascara for your everyday, simple work type look. It lasts. It doesn’t flake. And it doesn’t clump. That’s a good mascara to me, but it’s definitely “Defined” and not “Extreme”.
Extreme Lash Mascara
This mascara is pretty much my favorite mascara ever. I’ve been a huge fan of Tarte’s Amazonian Clay mascara and the Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara, but this one is even better. When they say extreme, they mean it. I’ve never got so much volume or length with a mascara before!
Usually I feel like you can barely even see my lashes over my thick cat eyes, but this stuff.. It almost curled my eyelashes up more. They looked longer and fuller than I’ve ever seen them. The only way I’ve ever gotten better results is with fake lashes. And no, thanks. I hate those things!
Overall Thoughts
As you can probably tell, I really love this kit. Not only is the makeup a perfect size, but it’s such great makeup. Overall the performance in this kit is what surprised me the most. I can definitely see myself going back to Stowaway Cosmetics in the future.
The only thing that I really don’t like about Stowaway is the price. Yeah, the makeup is small, but the prices are not. They pretty much seem on par with a lot of the stuff you see at Sephora. Maybe just a little cheaper. But it seems to me that the prices should be a little less considering you are getting less product.
A couple of the products I think are somewhat reasonably priced. You can get the mascaras at $12, which is definitely cheaper than most of the ones you’ll find at Sephora. With the stowaway kit, the price is definitely a good one. $75 for 9 amazing products. Not bad.
