4 Places To Get Your Makeup Done Professionally

Where To Get Your Makeup Done Professionally

Sometimes when you have a special event, you don’t want to have to do your own makeup. But getting your makeup done isn’t exactly the same as say getting your hair and nails done. You might even wonder if that’s a thing.. Well I’m here to tell you that it is! Not quite in the same way as a hair or nail salon, but you do have options!

Sephora

sephora vs ulta

If you’ve been in a Sephora, then no doubt have you seen the fabulous people in the black and red outfits. They’re there to help you! If you walk in there asking about what makeup to wear to prom, they’re extremely likely to just let you sit back while they do you up!

Of course, as with the other places on this list, they’re really expecting you to at least buy one of the products that they use on you, but think of it this way.. It’s almost the same as if you had paid them for the service, except now you have a product you can use at home!

Ulta

ulta vs sephora

Ulta is similar to Sephora in some ways. I think it has a little less of a”fancy” feel to it, which could at least partially be attributed to the size of the store. And not to mention that they sell drugstore as well as prestige makeup.

Problem you’ll run into with Ulta is that even though it’s a much bigger store, there is a lot less staff to help you. Usually Ulta only has a makeup artist in for certain periods of the day, and often not every day of the week. I have personally gotten my makeup done there, so I know that they will do it. But again, while they won’t MAKE you buy anything, it’s pretty much expected.

MAC Counter & Bobbi Brown Counter

I’m combining these in order to avoid being repetitive, but for the most part, you can get your makeup done at both of these places as well. Rather than be an individual store, you’re most likely to find them as part of a department store like Dillard’s.

Be a little more careful with these sorts of places. They’re pretty small, so the staff may be a little less willing to help you. Just depends on how busy they are and how much staff they have that day!

Other Options?

For the most part, when it comes to getting your makeup done by professionals, we’re pretty limited. There has yet to be a “makeup” salon, at least I haven’t seen any. But if for some reason you can’t find the places listed above or they are unavailable or otherwise, just check your local department store. Dillard’s, Macy’s, etc. Any place that has counters for different makeup brands.

Be sure to let them know you’re getting ready for a special occasion that day and are curious about their brand. A good makeup artist will be more than happy to help you out! And you know what you need to do. After all, most of these artists do make commission. So help a sista out!

Good luck beauties!
