There are a lot of different kinds of foundation primers out there. And if you’re one of my avid readers, you might know that I don’t really use a foundation primer most of time. I don’t know why, but I just don’t think they’re really worth the cost for what they do. Maybe that means I just haven’t tried the right ones yet. But if you are looking to invest in a foundation primer, I think this is the post for you.
I’ve only tried a handful a primers, but here are the ones I have tried.
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

I’m not a huge fan of this one, honestly. I think does an okay job, but I really didn’t notice too much of a difference in how long my face makeup lasted.
Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer
Sorry I don’t have a pic here. It’s basically the same as above but green! I actually really enjoyed this foundation primer. I’m not sure how much it had to do with the longevity it gave my makeup.. I think it had more to do with the fact that it really did a great job at canceling out the redness in my skin.
Ulta Fabulous Face Foundation Primer

I’d strongly compare this one to the first – Smashbox Photo Finished Foundation Primer. They’re pretty much the same consistency, and I can’t really say that one does a better job than the other. If I was going to get this type of foundation primer, I’d stick with the inexpensive Ulta brand one.
Benefit POREfessional

This is an awesome foundation primer. I don’t really recommend using it all the time – just because it’s so expensive. But I think it does a great job at covering up your pores. They don’t go away, but they are definitely reduced when using this product. I think paired with the right foundation that this one does a decent job at extending the life of your face makeup.
Maybelline Baby Skin

I have to say that out of all these, this is the one that I recommend the most. I think this one is very comparable to the Benefit POREfessional. The feeling of the Baby Skin primer is actually a lot different than the POREfessional. I’d say the consistency is a lot closer to the Smashbox or Ulta primers, but I think for the price you can’t beat it. It does help minimize pores! Maybe not quite as strongly as the POREfessional, but like I said, at the price, it’s unbeatable (at least in my opinion!).
