This might be a bit of a hard post to write considering I can’t exactly show you with my hands how to apply blush, but I’m going to do my best!
You might think that you should apply blush to your cheeks, but many people seem to think this means you should apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. This tends to make you look really young, which might be what you’re going for. But if you’re going to do this, make sure that you apply very lightly. Any more than that, and you’re going to look like a clown! We don’t want that haha.
One of the most important things to make sure of is that you’re actually using a blush brush. Don’t try to apply it with anything else, or you’re probably gonna end up with a mess. I promise a blush brush is a great investment! I broke down some of the most must-have brushes you should have in your collection and you can read that post here.
What you want to do is apply with a tapered blush blush very lightly on your cheekbones – right above the hollows of your cheek. Concentrate most of your blush towards the hairline. You’ll want to gently work it down towards the apples of your cheeks, but you don’t want to take it that far. You’ll want it to look something like this!
I also find it really helpful to have a nice fan brush to kind of tone it down if you’ve added a little too much, or even just help blend it in a little more.
Applying your blush shouldn’t be hassle; it’s a relatively easy thing to do. Just make sure you’re not using too much. Remember that less is more, because you can always go back and add more!
Another tip, putting yourself in a natural light environment will make it easier for you to see exactly how much blush you’re applying to your face. Sometimes it’s hard to tell what your makeup really looks like in the yellow, incandescent lighting of our homes.
I hope this post helped you understand how to apply your blush properly!
