Makeup can be a pretty expensive thing, but if you’re looking for the right products and you’re smart about it, you really don’t have to spend all that much.
High End Makeup
Clearly you’re going to want to stay away from this stuff if you’re on a budget, but just to give you an idea about how much makeup can cost, here’s the rundown of what price ranges you’re looking at for the high end stuff.
Foundation: $30-$50
Concealer: $20-$45
Eyeshadow Palette: $50-$75
Eyeliner: $20-30
Mascara: $20-$30
So as you can tell it’s pretty dang expensive to shop at Ulta and Sephora! Although I definitely think sometimes it’s worth it to for high end depending on occasion and things like that, a lot of times you can get some awesome stuff at the drugstore! You just gotta know what to look for (and that’s what I’m for!)
Drugstore Makeup
Makeup from Walmart, Target, Walgreen’s and the like can be pretty cheap actually! Ranging all the way from about $3-15, you’ll most likely not see something outside of this range, which is nice! (Well, I take that back, the cost of some makeup at Target- their more prestigious looking brands – can definitely be more expensive.)
So here’s kind of the run down for the cost range of most drugstore makeup.
Foundation: $5 – $15
Concealer: $8-12
Eyeshadow Palette: $10-15
Eyeliner: $3-10
Mascara: $5-9
A whole lot cheaper, right? So I cover this more in my drugstore vs high end makeup post, but I think that for the most part if you’re really on a budget, you can stick with drugstore. If you’ve got the extra cash, then things like eyeshadow and foundation for special occasions should probably come from Sephora. Again, those aren’t really necessities, but I will say that one of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes is a great thing to have!
Here are some great products that I recommend (budget friendly of course!)
Foundation

Honestly, this foundation is about the best you’re going to find for this price. With great coverage and two formulas for combination/oily and normal/dry skin, this foundation is a must have!
Concealer
A good concealer can be a little on the hard to find at the drugstore, but one that has always stood out as a reasonably priced and great full coverage option is Hard Candy’s Glamoflauge concealer! Just be careful not to use too much. A little goes a long way 🙂
Eyeshadows
Wet N Wild eyeshadow palettes. Starting at around $4, you won’t find better eyeshadows at the same price. I will say that you NEED Â primer with ANY eyeshadows, so keep that in mine.
I’m listing this L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow as another option because of the fact that it really is a great product. But as far as bang for your buck is concerned, this isn’t as cost effective as the Wet N Wild Eyeshadows running at about $8 a shadow.
Eyeliner

Jordana Fabu Liner is one of my absolute favorite eye liners. It’s only $2!! And I’ve tried several other eyeliners since but I always keep going right back to it.
Mascara

It’s a pretty dry formula which isn’t really normal for most mascaras, but I can’t get enough of this stuff!
