Every year on your birthday, Sephora sends you a coupon to go in store and pick up your Birthday gift. There’s no catch. You’d don’t have to purchase anything to get it! My birthday actually isn’t until July, but this year, I got my boyfriend to sign up for the program 🙂
Sephora has decided to change things up a bit this year, and so now they are offering two birthday gift options. The one I’ll be reviewing today is the Marc Jacobs set. The other, which I will be reviewing soon, is Fresh’s Soy Face Cleanser. I like that Sephora is giving us some more options this year! One thing I discovered recently is that in previous years, Sephora has offered a birthday gift for men. If you’re interested in that, I’m sorry to say that Sephora is not offering one this year. BUT, this years’ gift is awesome!
Sephora Birthday Gift 2016 Review
I don’t know about you, but when I think of Marc Jacobs, I tend to think of handbags, accessories, etc. I don’t really think of makeup. They’ve been at Sephora for a couple years now, and they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves. First thing you’ll notice about this years gift is that the packaging is MUCH better than last time.
Okay, so I’m still a little annoyed at the low resolution images they decided to print on the mini boxes from last year. Even this year, the photo on the back is blurry, so Sephora, I don’t know what your deal is. But nonetheless, it was enough to get me excited about this year’s gift! Sephora even has a nice little link where you can conveniently check out what’s inside!
As you can tell by the box, these are really really tiny! Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon and the Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in Terra Cotta Blush.
They’re about as small as the Sephora birthday gift from 2014. Surprise, surprise. There is definitely less product than in the 2015 gift. These really are just deluxe samples, if you can really even call them that. So if you’re crazy about these, then you should definitely consider ordering from Sephora online. They give out samples with orders all the time!
What I didn’t realize about this year’s gift is that the eyeliner in this set is actually one I already own. From the first month of Sephora Play back in September. Sure, it hadn’t fully been released yet so a lot of people didn’t get that box, but it’s a bit frustrating to get a product I already got a sample of in my birthday gift. For what it’s worth though, I do think the eyeliner is a keeper, so at least I have another good product!
As for the lipstick, it’s nice and creamy. Smooth like you’d expect. Especially so for a matte lipstick, and it’s comfortable to wear! It’s not really meant to be a long wearing mascara (about average I would say), so if you’re loving the color, you might go through this one pretty fast. But hey, it’s your birthday and it’s free! What’s to complain about?
