This past Thursday was my birthday! As part of the day, I decided I’d drop by and get the free Sephora Birthday Gift (2014) that’s been waiting for me all month long! It’s a good one this time too – provided by Make Up For Ever. The kit comes with two mini products – a lipstick and a mascara.
Maybe I’m wrong in my opinion, but I think they could have went with a little bit larger lipstick. I guess the stuff doesn’t go by too quickly, but dang it looks so small when you roll it out! It’s a nice natural color. It’s not too pink and not too red. I definitely think they made a good choice in the lipstick color. (The actual color is a little lighter than it looks in the picture. It’s pretty light feeling; with just one swipe, the color is fairly sheer, but you can build it up.
The mascara is a exactly the size you’d expect from a mini/trial size, but what you might not be expecting is the brush. It’s huge! I’m not going to lie.. This isn’t my favorite mascara. I think it’s nice and something I will use for days I’m wearing a more natural look. Problem is, I just had a hard time getting some real volume with it – all I got was length.
Overall, it’s definitely not a bad birthday gift this year. Can’t wait to see what they have for next year!
